KATIE AND JORDAN | A BRIGHT AND WHIMSICAL WEDDING AT ACORN RIDGE

Here’s the thing: I grew up with music. Every Saturday morning, my mom would sit at the piano and fill the entire house with a melody. When we had get-togethers, it was centered around my mom and aunt practicing songs for church. One of my most favorite Christmas traditions is listening to her playing "Silver Bells" after all of the presents are open. As my brother grew up, we found that he could play the piano too…and the guitar, ukulele, harmonica…
So, naturally: in the third grade, my mom put me in piano lessons. We quickly learned that I could not read music, so then she tried to teach me to play by ear like she can. Sadly, that family gene skipped me all together. I have no rhythm, and when I took an Ancestry DNA traits test, it kindly told me that I probably don’t enjoy singing in the shower.
So when these two music educators decided to get married, you’d better believe that in the vows, in the toasts, in the quiet moments and in the bright, flashing lights: there were so many beautiful references to music.
And I understood almost none of them.
As a pharmacist by degree and a photographer by choice, I don’t have too many well-established love metaphors. So, in the most simple terms I can think of, please allow me to explain how I see this couple:
On the way to the wedding, I was trying to explain their personalities to my second shooter, “Katie is so bubbly and Jordan is like a big teddy bear.”
They are just fun. They don’t just add to the moment, they create the moment. I’ve never seen a bride more excited than Katie. She had to be reminded that too much jumping up and down may mess up her hair. I’m not sure if there is a word for the opposite of a Bridezilla, but I’m gonna call it a Katie.
For example, the father of the bride came up to me and explained that they were dealing with a “catastrophe” that may set us back a bit on the timeline. The groom had ripped his pants (yes, the SpongeBob song played in my head the rest of the day). People were scrambling, trying to come up with the best solution. Groomsmen rushed to go buy a brand new pair while family members whipped out their sewing kits, trying to patch them up just enough for pictures.
Think about all of the brides you’ve witness in your life. How would they have reacted to such chaos?
When I turned around and looked at Katie, she laughed and said, “Go take a picture!”
And that’s pretty much how I expect their marriage to go. I quickly learned that Jordan and Katie are not influenced by circumstances. They are so secure in what they’re feeling that nothing can skew their experiences. Luckily, their primary emotion is joy. I have full confidence that in the future, they will be able to face every “catastrophe” with a giggle, take a picture, and work it out together.
Although there could never be a celebration as bright, colorful, or beautiful as these two people, the Witt wedding was as close as possible. I am not even kidding when I say it was breathtaking. The entire day was like one big, whimsical, wonderland tea party. When I tell you I could’ve spent an entire day just on the details, I am being completely serious.
The wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Witt was one of those “pinch me I can’t believe I get to do this as a job” weddings and I am so eager and proud to get to showcase just a few of my favorites from June 14, 2025:
