JESSICA & JOSHUA | A BUBBLY, BLUSHING WEDDING THAT TRULY SURPRISED ME

Updated: Mar 15, 2023

I’ve got to be totally honest with you all: this wedding completely blindsided me. It was only one month one month ago that Jessica asked me to photograph their big day. I’ve been to a lot of weddings and I’ve worked with a lot of vendors. I know how much time, effort, love, and care it takes into planning a wedding. Some of my clients book me two years out. I guess that’s why I shamefully admit that I wasn’t expecting much when I knew that this couple only had a one-month engagement.

Let me tell you, when I walked through the church doors, I was in shock. Somehow, these incredible people pulled off in one month what it takes most couples at least a year to do. This was a full-blown wedding. It had every bell, every whistle, every detail, every element that a timeless wedding day should have. The bling, the dress, the shoes, the florals, the decor, the ring, the vows, the food…There were waves of roaring laughter, there were moments with soft, tender tears. There were songs sang and prayers prayed. There was so much love and support from an absolute army of people who came to congratulate the new Mr. and Mrs. Johnson.

I guess the only one who wasn’t prepared for the celebration of the year was me. Although looking back, I don’t know why. I know this bride and the magical abilities she possesses. I know how many people love and adore her and her family and would come together to move mountains to give her and her love one unforgettable day. I don’t know why I expected anything less than perfection! Call me a doubter, but I guess I just thought it couldn’t be done.

One of my very favorite parts of a wedding day timeline is the time set aside for detail shots. As I scurried around in my blissful astonishment taking shot after shot of all of the gorgeous decor, this color-scared photographer started to ask herself, “Is pink the new neutral?”

Results like these don’t lie! The pink-y glamor was almost as dazzling as the couple it represented. For her entire life, Jessica has been making people smile. I've never heard one person give her anything less than praise. And now she's found her perfect match. Someone just as fun-loving and kind that she can share a life, and a family with. After I met Joshua for the first time, I came back to Jessica's getting-ready room and said, "He is a sweetheart!" She widened her eyes and shook her head as if to say, "I know. He's incredible."

Not only are they the sweetest couple around, they also looked like they just walked off the pages of a bridal magazine. A combination that created the dreamiest results. It was a total delight to flip back through all of the memories that were captured of this wonderful day. And now it is my pleasure to share with you just a few of my favorites.

Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson! I pray that God continues to bless your union and your family.
