JENNY & DEREK | A SOPHISTICATED DOWNTOWN WEDDING WITH A BIT OF SAGE FLAIR

Updated: Mar 30, 2022

As he looked down towards the ground, he could hear the footsteps behind him. Or was that his heart beating? He listened as family and friends awed over the one dressed in white behind him. Cameras and phones were pointed at him, all waiting on the same thing. The next moment was going to be one he would never forget. He took one last breath before he turned around to look the love of his life in the eyes.

And when he did, all he could do was... laugh?

I guess you're going to have to keep scrolling to figure that one out, huh? Let's just say Jenny and Derek's day gave me a first look for the books. In fact, this entire magical day was one that I'll certainly never forget.

As I tried to think of words to describe the day, I thought pregnancy brain must be getting the better of me. I could only think of opposites. It was so sophisticated, but so fun. It was regal, but laidback at the same time. It was colorful, but also muted and refined. There were tears of joy and tears of laughter. Moments remembered and so many more memories made.

Yes, just like Jenny and Derek, this wedding was so balanced. It's really the ebb and flow of aesthetics and emotions that made March 25, 2022 so completely unforgettable. And speaking of unforgettable, I think we all need to take a second to engrave Jenny's gorgeous gown into our brains. It's truly amazing when I get to see one of my precious friends transform into not only a bride, but an outright princess. Walt Disney himself couldn't have painted a more beautiful character. Jenny chose to pair her ensemble with touches of sage and champagne hues sprinkled throughout. Not to mention a pop of mermaid flair every now and then. See what I mean about balance?

A huge thanks to the new Mr. and Mrs. Secor. You two are truly a fairytale match. You're comfortable around each other. You match each others' sense of humor. You are both old souls with young hearts, and boy, do you two know how to put together a perfect wedding.

It was truly an honor.

And thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this day amazing. Although these photos look effortless, the truth is, it takes an army of hard workers to put together a day that can do a love like Jenny and Derek's justice.
