RIECKERS FAMILY

I think one of the coolest things I can witness as a photographer is a couple becoming a family. My first session with Brittany and Derek was way back before they were even engaged. Now here they are in front of the camera as mom and dad and it just warms my heart so much.

Not to get all philosophical, but I do believe that I know from their wedding day whether a couple will be natural at parenting. If I've learned anything after three kids: it's that you have to be able to go with the flow. On Brittany and Derek's wedding day, they were both calm, cool, and ready for whatever happened. Having a plan is great, but being able to find the joy and magic in the chaos is exactly what makes a wonderful wedding day and a great parenting journey.

Fully embracing the blue fuzzies in his toes, wiping away all of the teething slobber between shots, or even shrugging off the fact that Brittany forgot her wedding band are all perfect examples of why these two make awesome parents (and I always knew they would!)
