On May 31, 2018, I woke up before the sun to the sound of my phone going off. I squinted at the screen on my nightstand and made out the words "FaceTime". As soon as I realized what was going on, I knew it could only mean one thing: Owen was here!
This sweet little nugget has been making everyone around him smile for 12 months now! And this session was no exception. While he was making his momma and me crack up, he took the cake-eating business very, very seriously. His little mischievous stare said, "I know I'm doing something that I shouldn't, but you all seem so happy about it."
He tested his boundaries at first, dipping in a finger or two and seeing how we would react. After realizing that we were cheering him on, he put his game face on and went to work enjoying his very unusual breakfast.
It's crazy to think that this is the same little boy that I met over FaceTime at 5 a.m. last year. It's been such a joy to see his little personality develop these last several months. Although he is the spitting image of his momma, he's very serious like his daddy. Owen loves his big brother, cabinets, and Lucky Charms marshmallows. He can boast a large vocabulary including Bub, Mum, Dad, and even thank you. Moving around and exploring is at the top of his todo list every single minute.
If all of this wasn't impressive enough, he is the absolute sweetest and most gentle little guy you could ever meet. Owen, even though I haven't seen you as much as I would have wanted this last year, I have treasured every little snuggle and I cannot wait to watch you grow up even more as the years go by.
